I’m not someone who took the straight path—financial analyst, prosecutor, nonprofit director, city council member, policy expert—I took the one that dug deeper.
I began in finance, working on investments and wealth management. It was smart, stable work, but it left me with a quiet ache. I couldn’t stop thinking about the systems behind the numbers: who they served, and who they didn’t. I left the corporate world and joined a nonprofit serving survivors of domestic violence. That decision changed everything. The work was urgent, complex, and deeply human. It lit a fire in me. I went on to law school not to climb a professional ladder, but to fight for fairness in spaces where too many people are denied it.
Since then, I’ve prosecuted some of the toughest cases in Colorado—sexual assault, attempted murder, robbery. I’ve argued before the Colorado Supreme Court (on Zoom, during a pandemic!), and led a nonprofit serving victims of domestic and sexual violence that built the region’s first Child Advocacy Center to ensure young survivors also had a voice. I know how systems work, and how to push them to work better.
I also served five years on city council in a small but rapidly changing mountain town in Colorado, where I spearheaded the city’s first ethics policy, helped bring a co-responder program to our police department, and led initiatives on affordable housing, early childhood, and public transportation. I built coalitions, navigated resistance, and earned a reputation as the leader who listened, stayed steady, and delivered.
Now, I live in South Carolina and lead a policy team at a nonpartisan think tank in Washington, DC, providing research and advocacy to advance equity and protect liberty. But my passion goes beyond my work. I want to live in a world where women don’t just participate, they thrive. Where their voices are loud, their leadership is valued, and their presence is expected.
That’s why I co-founded the Thrive Together Women’s Summit, mentor women and girls, and serve on the board of the Women’s Rights & Empowerment Network. I speak about what it really takes for women to lead and get what they want, without compromising who they are.
My speaking experience includes, among others, presenting to the National League of Cities and the National Conference of State Legislatures, as well as appearances on C-SPAN. I also lead customized trainings for organizations and businesses.
